Reimagining Paper: Paper Pulp Sculptures  with Mirena Kim

  • Craft Contemporary 5814 Wilshire Boulevard Los Angeles, CA, 90036 United States (map)

Textile Arts LA is collaborating with Craft Contemporary to bring you a series of Surface Design Workshops focusing on new ways to use paper.

Mirena Kim will show you how to create your own paper pulp recipe. Then add color and texture with unexpected ingredients. Explore what can constitute an "armature" and learn how to extend the natural strength of paper to create both free-standing and wall-mounted works. This centuries-old art form not only allows for creative expression but also offers environmental benefits by repurposing abundant wastepaper into stunning artistic creations.
