LACMA presents the 37th Annual Michele and Peter Berton Memorial Lecture: The Aesthetics of Textile Mountings for Japanese Painting.
Textile mountings for scroll paintings are both a decorative framework and structural support that are essential for the appreciation, display, and preservation of East Asian paintings. Andrew Hare, retired Supervisory Conservator of East Asian Painting, National Museum of Asian Art, Smithsonian Institution will discuss the evolution of diverse mounting styles focusing on Japanese examples from the past 1,000 years.
