Porfirio Gutiérrez Lecture & Trunk Show

  • Craft Contemporary 5814 Wilshire Boulevard Los Angeles, CA, 90036 United States (map)

Experience the premiere of Migrating Memories, a 5-minute short film by multidisciplinary Zapotec textile artist Porfirio Gutiérrez that explores migration through an Indigenous lens, tracing his gathering of memories from Oaxaca to California and how memory anchors him to land and ancestral knowledge. Through this intimate film, Gutiérrez reflects on weaponizing memory as a way to honor cultural continuity and his lived experience.
This program also features a trunk show by MAESTRO, a project founded by Porfirio Gutierrez, where he promotes and sells his utilitarian objects. Guests can explore and purchase timeless, utilitarian textiles rooted in Zapotec ancestral philosophies of making and the material life cycle.

This program will be taking place outdoors.
