  • Mingei Museum 1439 El Prado San Diego, CA, 92101 United States (map)

“For Mingei, Kim has created two cut paper interlayers for the windows to be installed in the Founders Gallery housing the Nakashimia table and conoid chairs. sugi is the room’s circular window, inspired by George Nakashima’s Cedar of Lebanon drawing. The rectangular window, kuruminoki, was inspired by Nakashima’s Walnut tree drawing. Each screen is an abstraction of a George Nakashima drawing of trees he admired.
