ARTIST STATEMENT
My multidisciplinary practice explores ancestry, migration, womanhood, ecology, spirituality, and social justice through cyanotype, painting, printmaking, enamel, sculpture, installation, digital assemblage, and performance. Guided by family histories, oral narratives, archival research, travel, and sustained engagement with place, I create layered works in which the body, landscape, and inherited memory function as living archives. Materials are selected for their symbolic and transformative qualities: fabric evokes the body and cultural inheritance; enamel makes fragility permanent through heat; while roots, botanicals, vessels, water, and found objects carry histories of lineage, displacement, resilience, and renewal. My process often combines photography with locally gathered plant materials, exposing them onto fabric or paper through cyanotype so that light records both presence and absence, while community stories and participatory actions extend individual memory into a shared cultural record.
