Where Time Bends Softly invites viewers to explore the dynamic interplay of the old and the new, breaking down traditional temporal boundaries to highlight the enduring relevance of artistic expression across centuries. The exhibition delves into the juxtaposition of past and present, fostering a dialogue that challenges conventional perceptions of time and artistic evolution.
At the heart of the collection lies the rediscovery of ancient inlay techniques, which serve as the foundational concept behind the works of Kaloust Guedel. By blending these time-honored methods with contemporary artistic practices, the works explore the evolution of craftsmanship into a contemporary artistic language.
Fiber, present throughout the exhibition as a recurring medium, introduces a vocabulary outside the conventions of traditional artistic materials. Its tactile and structural presence reinforces the exhibition’s meditation on softness, immersion, and transformation, while expanding the dialogue between craft, materiality, and contemporary artistic expression. In this context, softness becomes not only a conceptual reference to the fluidity of time, but also a material condition embedded within the works themselves.
