Introduction to Hand-Sewn Bookbinding

Discover the art of hand-sewn bookbinding in this four-week creative class series.

Participants will craft unique books while exploring historical binding techniques and drawing inspiration from The Huntington’s collections. Presented by Nova Community Arts, this four-week program includes three different bookmaking projects that are designed to give you a taste of historical techniques to make books by hand.

Activities include a gallery visit, learning different stitching and binding styles, assembling a case-bound hardcover book, and a guest talk from a Huntington book conservator. 

All supplies and materials are included. 
Suitable for all levels; no previous experience is necessary.

Registration includes free admission to The Huntington beginning at 2 p.m.
