Healing with Gold: The Art of Kintsugi on Ceramics & Beyond is an exhibition featuring more than thirty contemporary artworks alongside traditional kintsugi ceramics, exploring how the centuries-old Japanese practice of repairing broken ceramics with lacquer dusted in gold has evolved from a tea ceremony tradition into a global artistic philosophy.
Curated by Japanese art historian Meher McArthur, the exhibition traces this evolution through three thematic sections: Traditional Kintsugi: The Roots of Gold Lacquer Repair in Japan's Tea Culture; Contemporary Kintsugi: Innovating Gold Lacquer Repair on Ceramics; and Kintsugi in Contemporary Art: Moving Beyond the Broken Bowl. Together, these sections reveal how an age-old Japanese craft continues to inspire artists across disciplines and cultures.
Work by TALA member Liberty Worth is included in the exhibition.
