Join the Fowler and Metro Art for an artist talk and hands-on workshop with Metro Art commissioned artist Karen Hampton, who is creating a site-specific artwork for the future Metro D Line Westwood/UCLA Station.
The artist will present her Metro station artwork concept, the history of indigo and its relationship to the US and Trans-Atlantic slave trade, then lead a workshop demonstrating various techniques of indigo resist dyeing. Participants will be able to take home their projects.
Supplies and light refreshments will be provided. Please wear appropriate clothing to work with dye.
This is a limited-capacity workshop; registration is first come, first served.
