Weaving Stories

  • Asian Art Museum 200 Larkin Street San Francisco, CA, 94102 United States (map)

For our members in the San Francisco bay area, this interactive textile exhibit at the Asian Art Museum is sure to delight. Featuring samples of fabrics essential to daily life in Southeast Asia through the 19th and 20th centuries, Weaving Stories highlights the many ways in which cloth plays an integral role in everyday life.

Exhibit opens December 17th, 2022

“While so many of the fabrics surrounding us today are disposable, the works on view in Weaving Stories hold value because of the people who made them, their beauty and skillful execution, their connection to family, or their connection to faith. They tell stories that are as varied as the region’s hundreds of weaving traditions and as universal as cloth.”
