Ben Cuevas is a Los Angeles artist whose work is rooted in concepts of otherness and intersectionality, inspired by his queer, non-binary, HIV-positive, and Latinx lived experience.
A central part of Cuevas’s artwork is based in textile practices, underscoring queer/feminist ideologies within the long and gendered history of women’s work with fiber-based materials. These artworks have been shown across the US with exhibitions held at Craft Contemporary in Los Angeles, the Museum of the City of New York, The Leslie-Lohman Museum in New York City, and others.
Ben’s first LA solo exhibit, Non-Binary Code is now on view through January 13, 2024, at Studio 203 in Culver City. His work Reveal/Conceal Diptych from the series Non-Binary Code is currently in the exhibit Influences/Influencers at Craft in America Center.
