Produce Boxes to Support Local Farms

Kiss the Ground, in collaboration with White Buffalo Trust, has compiled a food pick-up and delivery guide which includes farmers’ markets. The list is updated daily.

CSAs and Grocery Services

Bodega on Wheels, which starts April 7, is a collaboration between the folks from the 101 Coffee Shop and upstairs drink spot MiniBar, plus Future Gin and local bottled cocktail company Vervet. The founders of popular ice cream brand Coolhaus are using their reformatted trucks to make deliveries. The current delivery radius is everywhere from Hollywood and the hills to Los Feliz, East Hollywood, Koreatown, Mid-City, Larchmont, the Miracle Mile, and over to Beverly Grove and West Hollywood. Delivery itself is free, but does require a minimum order of $50.

Bodega on Wheels will be offering prepared sandwiches and other to-go options as well as produce and pantry basics. There will be Coolhaus ice cream pints, sandwiches, and scoops, batched cocktails from MiniBar, canned cocktails from Vervet, gin and tonic kits from Future Gin, and more. Ten percent of proceeds from each sale will be donated to a few different local charities, like the LA Regional Food Bank and No Us Without You, which focuses on undocumented restaurant and bar staff. Cottonwood Urban Farm, a farm providing access to locally grown food while aiming to educate, is partnering with small local farms to offer produce boxes for curbside pick-up. Details of how to order can be found on their Instagram feed, @cufarm.

County Line Harvest CSA boxes, priced between $25 and $40, minus Röckenwagner’s bread, are available for pickup at a handful of restaurants around the city that are still open in a limited capacity, including Eightfold Coffee in Echo Park, Hoxton Hotel downtown, Highly Likely Cafe in West Adams and Lady & Larder in Mar Vista — check its website for the most up-to-date locations and call before ordering.

LA Eater has compiled a list of 10 LA restaurants who have partnered with local farmers to offer produce. Shopping at smaller establishments which are geographically spread out makes it easier for you to adhere to social distancing rules. Some of the businesses listed offer delivery options.

The Ecology Center is providing Resiliency Boxes with produce, and add on pantry items like eggs, beans honey and bread. The boxes are available for curbside pick-up. You can also order a box to be donated to community members in need. Order here.

Edible Gardens LA has teamed with small local farms to provide delivery of boxes that include produce, eggs and organic heritage flour from the Tehachapi Grain Project. Email info@ediblegardensla.com to get more information and join their mailing list.

Go Get Em Tiger, which has coffee shops throughout Los Angeles, has added the ability to order a la carte pantry items for pick-up or delivery. Check their website for the latest store hours and order via their app.

Kandarian Organic Farms in the Central Coast, offers delivery of grains, beans, lentils, herbs and tea. You can place orders here.

Röckenwagner’s Bakery is partnering with friends at County Line Harvest and Lady and the Larder, two California-based small businesses to bring you farmers’ market produce, artisan cheeses and read-to-heat meals in addition to their fresh-baked breads direct to your door. They also have a pick-up option, you can check pick-up options and order online here.

Tender Greens is now offering grocery boxes for pick-up or delivered to your door. You can order online or through their app.

Many coffee shops, cafes and restaurants are now offering grocery items through order ahead, pick-up services. Eater LA posted a list of a establishments in the Los Angeles area.
