Polly Apfelbaum at the Kemper Museum

2019 Creative Capital awardee, Polly Apfelbaum, will be exhibiting her installation This is not a rug/A Sun Bonnet Woman at the Kemper Museum in Kansas City. Apfelbaum’s practice incorporates textiles, ceramics, and works on paper to comment on broader social and historical contexts.

Her installation contains handwoven carpets, ceramics, drawings, wallpaper, and immersive color. Key visual motifs include the painting of a faceless woman, relating it to contemporary ideas surrounding the portrayal of women.

Polly Apfelbaum: Waiting for UFOS (a space set between landscape and a bunch of flowers) will be on view until April 28, 2019.
