Textile Slam!
A morning or evening of short presentations, conversation, community and refreshments.
Our Fall Textile Slam of 2024 was on
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 13, FROM 3:00 - 5:00 pm at Wonzimer Gallery
You asked for more events to gather as a group, share ideas, and be inspired.
Textile Slam! is our semi-regular opportunity for casual, friendly conversation and networking featuring a rotating slate of presenters, each of whom will deliver an informal six-minute pecha kucha-stvle presentation. The Slam! is a variation on a member-meeting, but open to non-member friends and guests to add a spark of the unexpected.
We're inviting members, artists, designers, architects, educators, and all-around neat thinkers to talk about their work, ideas that interest them, or projects they are exploring or have completed or would like help with.*
(see below for more info about the presentations.)
Join us for small bites, bubbly beverages, and great company.
$30members; $40 non-members; students/concessions $20
Although there is no application fee to present, all attendees and presenters must purchase a ticket for the slam.
Your presentation must be limited to 6 minutes - there will be no overs, please.
If your presentation is digital it must be in PowerPoint, PDF or Google Slides and timed to 6 minutes. We ask you to transmit the file to us no later than Sunday night before the event, so we can queue it up. We will not spend time solving technical problems.
You may do a straight chat with no slides, or a show-and-tell, a brief demo, or other similar, aka simple, presentation. As noted above, this is an informal event - we do not have the capability to manage intensive productions.
Subject Matter: If your talk is likely to be of interest to people working in the textile arts, in any related industry, your subject is fair game. You can present research, pitch an upcoming exhibit, practice your public speaking, showcase an idea that interests you, show-and tell-about a new product or process you like, discovered, or want more information about. All we ask is that you pique our curiosity, entertain us, or educate us.
