ARTIST STATEMENT

I began my career as a fiber artist in the early '70's. I was a hippie embroidering on jeans with cotton. So began my love of surface embellishment. Trained as a graphic artist, my embroidered motifs were always realistic solid images full of tiny details. As my skills developed so did the sophistication of my materials. I began making wearables and accessories using gold, silver, and silk thread with precious stones and pearls while exploring Or Nué (or shaded gold), a form of embroidery developed in the Middle Ages.
