Ceramist Jen Cheung hosts short form ceramics workshops at her home studio-garden in a classic Crafstman-style house in Pasadena. This Fall she’s offering agateware, a varicoloured clay that produces a marbled effect.
The striking brown and buff colorways of this clay produce a handsome finish. You'll learn methods and techniques for handling and shaping the clay, which may include making a handle, shaping foot rings, and decorating the surface of your work with stamping and carving. Your pieces will be fired and glazed (clear) post-class, then mailed to you. Students in Jen's previous classes each completed three to five pieces.
Jen supplies all the materials and tools, but please bring an apron and be sure to wear clothes that can get a bit messy! A light lunch, beverages, and great conversation are included!
Workshop is Saturday afternoon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. We'll be meeting at Jen's home-studio in Pasadena - address will be sent to all enrolled students a few days before the event.
