UTA Artist Space is currently exhibiting work by Marco Castillo, The Decorator’s Home, curated by Neville Wakefield. This is Castillo’s first solo exhibition in the US after twenty-six years of collaboration with world-renowned Los Carpinteros collective. Inspired by Cuban Modernism, this exhibition personifies the vision of a fictional interior designer. Through sculptural installations, watercolors, drawings, and video, The Decorator’s Home traces various North American and Soviet design influences. There are several works inspired by Soviet-era designs and materials, mixed with traditional elements such as caning, rattan and lattice work.
On view through July 13, 2019. Press release and more photos can be found here.
