Vanessa German’s first LA exhibition will be on view at Gavlak Los Angeles until May 18th. $lang: Short Language in Soul features work by the Pittsburgh-based artist, poet, performer and social activist. The work was created during German’s residency at Aguacate in Puerto, Vallerta, Mexico. Assembled using many found objects sourced from around her current neighborhood, self-taught “citizen artist,” German explores the power of art and love through the objects from this historic black neighborhood.
