FALL TEXTILE SLAM

Our Fall Textile Slam, Textiles and Travel from Around the World was in partnership with the UCLA Fowler Museum on September 28, 2025. We had 5 fabulous presentations: Artist and Weaver Molly Haynes’s residency in North Carolina where she processed Kudzu vines and natural dyeing into her weaving practice. Artist Liz Robb had a residency in the Arctic Circle on board a ship where she collected plastics from the ocean and created cyanotypes. Artist Caitlin Parker had a residency in Ireland where she cultivated natural plant dyes and created paper collages. Syona Puliady, Curator of Textiles of the Eastern Hemisphere for the Fowler Museum at UCLA spoke about her research involving collaborations with migrant communities. Dr. Erica Jones, Senior Curator of African Arts and manager of Curatorial Affairs at the Fowler Museum at UCLA spoke about Tunisian wedding costumes.
