THE LEFTOVERS

During lock down I made and mended many things, including a jumpsuit from indigo dyed kimono lengths, which I had saved for many years. The vow I made to use only materials I had on hand, and not to buy anything new determined my choice to piece together the jumpsuit. However, there were many scraps leftover, these called to me. What should they become?  These scraps were stitched onto an old cotton Chinese top that was stained and needed rejuvenation.  Transforming it to a layered stitch sampler and a daily journal was a way to find calmness in the storm.  I had no set idea when I began except to use the leftovers, and so it became what it is by letting the stitching just happen, no plan, a reflection of these times we are in.
