ARTIST STATEMENT
Working primarily in textiles, acrylic paint on canvas, and personal objects, I focus my investigations on memory. Recent works have dealt with memories of childhood, juxtaposing my current experiences as a parent against my memories from childhood. Through exploring child/parent dichotomies of establishing/breaking trust, setting/pushing boundaries, and creating memories over time, I am interested in focusing on the world immediately around me to considering ways of interpreting and making relevant my own experiences in the larger world. Experiences of wonder, joy, awe, frustration, and love are of particular interest to me in preserving and recording my family’s history.
