BIO

Los Angeles based artist, Diana Flynn, uses cotton canvas fabric and acrylic mixed mediums to create textural art.

Using ripped, frayed and painted fabric strips, Flynn creates dimensional surfaces that are used in tapestries, sculpture and wall art. Her work has a rhythmic quality and she is at ease working with saturated colors and subtle hues.

While still working with painted fabric strips, Flynn’s more recent work was created with the addition of acrylic mediums. The process involves applying layers of molding paste, pouring medium, pumice gel and acrylic paint by hand-working intuitively with each layer to add texture, volume and color. Fabric pieces are then incorporated into the dimensional surface adding unity and balance

Originally from the Bay Area, Flynn spent many years in South Carolina and Pennsylvania but when deciding to head back to California, the rich history of art and architecture in Los Angeles, drew her in. She works from her home studio and is endlessly inspired by the creative community in Southern California.

Her recent exhibitions include solo installations at Made By Inch, Hermosa Beach (2024) and Culture Brewery, Manhattan Beach (2023) and group shows at South Bay Artist Collective, Hermosa Beach, (2018-2023) and Manhattan Beach Art Center, Manhattan Beach, (2020-2024).
