Position Overview: The Community Relations Coordinator is responsible for fostering relationships with the communities of Los Angeles County and engaging them in programs, events, and public relations activities. They are responsible for facilitating and maintaining the mentorship and teaching artist programs. Free Arts is currently looking for a strong candidate to work part time for the Free Arts programs team. The ideal candidate has great organization, follow through and time management skills. This position will work closely with the programs team members to help with scheduling and training of volunteers. The Program Associate is responsible for coordinating all individual, agency and third-party relationships with programs.
P*rimary Responsibilities: *
Mentorship & Teaching Artist Programs
Maintain excellent relationships and open communications with partner agency personnel
Recruit new partner agencies for the mentorship and teaching artist programs
Work with partner agency liaisons to ensure a mutually beneficial relationship between the agency and Free Arts
Effectively communicate sites’ needs to other Free Arts team members
Volunteer Recruitment, Training and Engagement
Conducts outreach to develop ongoing relationships with individual artists, artist groups, galleries, museums, colleges and universities and service organizations and then engages them as appropriate in Free Arts programs and development activities
Strategically recruits volunteers to meet the needs of Free Arts programs
Coordinates all volunteer trainings and orients new volunteers to the mission of Free Arts, its history, vision for its future, programs and impact on the community it serves
Place volunteer mentors in appropriate positions/agencies
Working with Development Director and Courthouse Program Coordinator, is responsible for the logistics of all Free Arts Days and provides support as needed for other Free Arts events
Raise awareness of Free Arts programs at high schools and community-based organizations through personal contact with college counselors, principals, program directors and other staff.
Working with Executive Director, maintains on-going strategic and relevant Free Arts social networking including stories and media content
Aids in the writing of the quarterly newsletter
Assist program, development, and/or administrative staff as necessary or requested
Participate in and attend Free Arts’ events as assigned.
Other duties and projects as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Minimum one year in the human service sector
Minimum one year supervising volunteers
Minimum one year working in an arts-related field
Demonstrated ability to plam and implement effective programs and manage multiple priorities, and develop and maintain consistent and professional relationships with outside parties on behalf of an employer
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Valid CA Driver’s License
Bilingual Spanish-English preferred
