OPEN CALL: Bridging the Gap: Contemporary Craft Practices Exhibition
Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts invites artists 18 to 35 years of age to submit portfolios for consideration for the National Juried Exhibition, Bridging the Gap: Contemporary Craft Practices.
Submissions will be accepted via SlideRoom from March 20 – June 5, 2019.
Artists and makers are consistently seeking innovative approaches to traditional craft practices; creating work that is historically conscious, while resonating with newer audiences, younger makers and current issues. It is important now more than ever to examine our histories with a fresh lens in order to forge new paths and make room for new voices and perspectives, while recognizing the significance of those histories.
Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts is seeking artists who are bridging the gap between the traditional and contemporary. Bridging the Gap: Contemporary Craft Practices aims to recognize artists less than 35 years of age who are making significant strides in their craft in bold and diverse ways.
Artists between the ages of 18 and 35 are encouraged to submit a small sample portfolio of their work created within the last two years. Preference will be given to work that is related to traditional craft practices, but all media will be considered.
Jurors include Ariel Zaccheo, Jovencio de la Paz, and Jessica Todd.
