TEXTILES IN ENTERTAINMENT: THE WOMAN KING + WAKANDA FOREVER

Textiles are such a part of our daily lives that they can often get overlooked. But for Embroidery Artist Nneka Jones, founder of Art You Hungry and Master Weaver Tivane Mavuma from the Barrydale Hand Weavers, their work is front and center and on the big screen. Join us for our upcoming Textile Talk, Textiles in Entertainment, for a behind the scenes look at artists’ roles in movie production and marketing for two colossal movies – The Woman King and Wakanda Forever.
Nneka Jones’ work has been featured in TIME magazine and commissioned by Marvel Studios for the Wakanda Forever release on Disney+.
Tivane Mavuma is the Master Weaver for the Barrydale Hand Weavers in South Africa, where he led a group of craftspeople to create over 1600 meters of handwoven cloth for the costuming in The Woman King.

This event is free and open to the public; registration is required.
