Reimagining Tatreez — Stitching Land and Memory

  • Craft Contemporary 5814 Wilshire Boulevard Los Angeles, CA, 90036 United States (map)

In this workshop with Layal Bata, participants will explore tatreez, the traditional Palestinian cross-stitch embroidery, and the meaning it carries through its regional motifs and colors. Historically tied to specific villages, these patterns form a visual language connected to land, identity, and community.
Through stitching a handkerchief-sized piece, participants will experiment with combining motifs and colors, reflecting how displacement and movement create new relationships between place and memory.
