Two year-long interdisciplinary programs of embroidery workshops with TALA member Shango of Folk Lounge.
Pattern Keepers is the Beginner embroidery class, Working Lore follows immediately after for Intermediate level makers.
Folk Lounge members are welcome to stay for both.
Pattern Keepers: a lively evening on the LA River to build embroidery foundations. Each session explores vocabulary, materials, illustration, and nature — with small projects that let you sample styles and develop your own expression, craft fluency and technique. Whether you are picking up a needle for the first time or returning to a practice, you are invited to play, explore, and grow in community with dedicated support.
Working Lore: develop larger bodies of work. Each session draws on cultures, archives, symbolism, and mythologies — building toward research, publishing, or production. Whether you are an artist deepening your practice or a professional expanding your cultural reach, grow your impact through meaning, structure, critique, and community.
Schedule:
Pattern Keepers meets every Wednesday, 6-7pm
Working Lore meets every Wednesday, 7-8pm
Fee:
$35 single drop-in
