Patchwork Mending with Vintage Japanese Fabrics

  • Nellita's Craft 248 1st Street Los Angeles, CA, 90012 United States (map)

Come learn about patchwork and visible mending techniques using vintage Japanese textiles provided by BORO BORO!
This workshop will provide a brief intro to the history of Japanese mending and various stitching styles and techniques used for visible mending using real antique textiles as examples. You will then each complete a sampler of the most common hand stitching techniques used in mending, which you will be able to take home and use as a reference.
The last portion of the workshop will be a block of time for students to work on patching, mending, or stitching their own items from home with a variety of vintage Japanese fabric scraps provided by us.
All students will go home with a kit of sewing supplies and indigo patches to take home with them to continue on their mending journey!
