Nature’s Palette: Painting with Natural Dyes

  • East Los Angeles Library 4837 East 3rd Street East Los Angeles, CA, 90022 United States (map)

Join Self Help Graphics for our free Family Workshop at the East Los Angeles County Library with artist, Cayetano Talavera. Participants will delve into the art of creating surface design with paints derived from roots, flowers, and tree bark. You will be guided through the process of natural dyes, and you'll have the opportunity to express your creativity on a cotton bandana.

In this hands-on session, participants will be introduced to the magic of natural dyes, gaining insights into the methods and techniques that transform botanicals into beautiful hues. Each attendee will receive a cotton bandana, ready to be adorned with their unique artistic expression. The surface designs you paint will come to life with the rich colors from nature. This workshop invites you to connect closer to nature through the exploration of sustainable and eco-friendly art practices. The instructions will be available in both English and Spanish. Come join the fun!

This workshop is open to all ages, and no prior experience is necessary. All materials will be provided to participants.
