Join textile artist Caitlin Parker to learn the craft of eco-printing and create your own plant prints on fabric. In this class, Caitlin will demonstrate how to transfer natural dyes from plant materials onto cotton bandanas. You’ll learn techniques for preparing textiles for natural dyeing, as well as the best plants for creating vibrant colors and prints. Each student will get to place the dyestuffs, wrap the fabric, set it to steam, and then we’ll all unveil our unique creations at the end of class.
All materials will be provided including fresh and dried plants from the instructor’s garden. Students are also encouraged to bring flowers or plants of their own to experiment. You will go home with a plant printed bandana, as well as documentation of the information discussed in class.
