Join artist Rose Tsang in a two day workshop on beginning sculptural basketry. Students will be introduced to methods for building sculptural forms from traditional basket weaving materials, like rattan reed, as well as unexpected found or foraged items such as yarn, tree twigs, electronic cables, wire — even tennis or badminton rackets! If it can be woven into, it's fair game.
For the first day, we will build the skeletons using techniques such as twining and random weave. For the second day, we will create the skins which cover the skeletons. For the skins, we will use kozo paper, concrete, animal gut, and acrylic paints.
No prior experience is necessary
An additional $25 materials fee will collected
