Join the National Basketry Organization and the Textile Center of Minnesota for an online Art Speaks conversation on The Visual Language of Basketry, featuring fiber artists Ann Coddington, Carol Eckert, and Pat Hickman in discussion with art historian Dr. Diana Greenwold (Smithsonian). Together, they explore trends in contemporary basketry, examining materials, techniques, and the evolving creative possibilities of this versatile art form.
This online conversation coincides with Basketry Now 2025 (July 29 – October 18, 2025), a special exhibition co-presented by NBO and the Textile Center, juried by Gyöngy Laky.
The show features 63 contemporary basketry artists (including TALA member Elise Vazelakis) working in diverse materials—including foraged and repurposed—and a variety of techniques such as twining, weaving, coiling, looping, netting, and interlacing, highlighting both traditional forms and sculptural innovations.
