SOLD OUT! Off-Loom Technique of Coiling and Its Creative Possibilities

We’re so pleased to offer this opportunity to learn and create under the guidance Ferne Jacobs, one of our country's most renowned artists working in basketry techniques.

This workshop will focus on coiling, and if there is time will introduce twining and knotting as well. We will explore creating two and three dimensional shapes with this ancient technique, discussing its near-universal appearance in early civilizations, through today. Beyond focusing solely on the practical steps, this workshop will encourage individual expression and discussions about creativity and inspiration.

Ferne Jacobs' work is in the collections of the Smithsonian, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and others. She has lectured and taught widely throughout the United States and has a particular interest in helping students to not only learn the techniques involved, but also to identify and explore their own creative interests.

Class will be held on in Torrance, on Del Amo Blvd near the 110 and 405 fwys. We’ll send the studio address to all registered students! Thanks so much for your patience and flexibility while we found a home for this class.
