Jeffrey Gibson: This Is the Day at Wellin Museum of Art

Jeffrey Gibson: This Is the Day explores the artist’s multidisciplinary practice, including a wide variety of mediums and commentary on race, sexuality, religion, gender, among others. Gibson combines popular and queer culture with references to Native American history and current events. Reflecting on his Choctaw and Cherokee heritage, Gibson explores the significance, traditions, and rituals of personal adornment and identity.

New work alongside pieces created between 2014 and 2018 demonstrates the breadth of Gibson’s oeuvre. Curated by Tracy L. Adler, the Johnson-Pote Director of Wellin Museum of Art.

On view through December 9, 2018. More information about this exhibition can be found here.
