Judy Chicago at the Pasadena Museum of California Art
Judy Chicago's Birth Project: Born Again exhibition will be on view through October 7, 2018 at the PMCA (one of their last exhibitions before they close!).
This exhibition focuses on Chicago's needlepoint work that analyzes motherhood, maternity, female-ness and gender. During 1980 - 1985, the artist herself and a team of 150 female needleworkers produced these artworks. The imagery emphasizes maternal and female bodies, especially as empowered female symbols.
Birth Project was curated by Dr. Thompson Wylder, a Judy Chicago scholar who has curated and co-curated many exhibitions with Chicago's work.
