Christy Matson's Artist Talk at the Long Beach Museum of Art

Artist Christy Matson gave TA | LA members an engaging talk about her weaving practice and inspiration on March 24th. There was a good hearty discussion about weaving as paintings and drawings vs textiles. Christy weaves on a TC2 Jacquard loom which allows her to create curves within the structure. Part of her process is painting then scanning images into her computer to make digital bitmaps. There is lots of planning and preparing prior to dressing her loom with a warp. We were in awe of her work and her thoughtful presentation.
