Artist-in-Residence Literature & Gardens

This residency is a bit of a stretch, but given that people's talents are interests are usually a surprise, I will include it. If you link through to the site you'll see one artist painting, and another building a fence, so one suspects that some kind of dyeing or weaving or other art form drawn from the garden itself would be welcome . . .

Bookworm Gardens is a botanic garden inspired by children's literature. Located one hour north of Milwaukee and one hour south of Green Bay, we draw visitors from throughout the country. We reach over 12,000 learners in programs for learners of all ages that are run May 1 - October 31 of each year.

The Bookworm Gardens' Mission is to enrich the mind, body, and spirit of the young and young at heart through exploration in a garden environment based on children’s literature.

The Artist-in-Residence program invites professional artists to explore, interpret and share the unique connections between Literature and Garden that exist at Bookworm Gardens. The mission and magic of Bookworm Gardens is firmly rooted at the intersection of these two worthy disciplines, which is why we have chosen to run two concurrent residencies, one focusing on literature and storytelling and the other focusing on the physical garden and site exploration. It is our belief that creating authentic, long format art experiences at Bookworm Gardens will strengthen connections with our local audience and also propel us onto larger regional and national platforms.
